Description

Ni200 Nickel Wire

The Crazy Wire Company are well known as suppliers of top quality Ni200 nickel wire. We have enormous stock levels at all times, as we use this wire to weave our high specification woven mesh products. Our brilliant staff are experts in producing our spools of round wire on our 6 rapid action winding machines. All spools are produced to carry a little extra length to make up for any waste when handling the product.

Because we produce our own spools we are able to offer a wide choice of AWG and lengths. We are also able to guarantee the best prices in Europe.

It is primarily great for using as a heat treatment wire. Nichrome 200 is a non-magnetic alloy composed of nickel and chrome and is often used for wrought and cast parts for high temperature applications, as it has better oxidation and hot corrosion resistance compared to cheaper iron-nickel-chromium alloys. As a general rule, the alloy commonly supplied contains 99.6% nickel and 0.4% chrome by weight.

This Ni200 heat treatment wire alloy is highly suitable to applications that are subject to oxidising.

What Is The Resistivity Of Nichrome?

Having a high resistivity allows you to use a shorter wire, a resistance wire is controlling the electric circuit. A resistor should be selected based on its temperature coefficient of resistivity and corrosion resistance when stability is of primary importance. A high resistance and oxidation resistance are important characteristics when using this material for heating elements for electric heaters and toasters.

It is not uncommon for ceramic powder to act as insulating for resistance wires which are encased in tubes of another alloy as well. Heating elements of this type are used in electric ovens and water heaters, as well as in specialised forms for cooktops.

As the most common resistance wire for heating purposes, Ni200 is a non-magnetic alloy of nickel and chromium with a high resistivity and resistance to oxidation. In order to use it as a heating element, it is best when wounding into coils. As nichrome wire isn’t effective when bonding with tin-based electrical solder, other methods need to be used for connections to electrical power, such as crimping connectors and screw terminals.

Nickel chrome wires are great for using as hot cutting wire.
