Description
SS430 Grade Magnetic Stainless Steel Wire
Introducing our SS430 Grade Magnetic Stainless Steel Wire range, meticulously engineered to meet the diverse needs of both industrial and DIY enthusiasts. This wire is composed of a ferritic stainless steel alloy, offering a unique combination of excellent corrosion resistance and magnetic properties. The magnetic stainless steel wire is particularly advantageous in applications where magnetism is required, such as in various electrical and electronic components, as well as for general fabrication tasks. Our selection features a variety of thicknesses to accommodate a broad spectrum of applications, including but not limited to automotive, manufacturing, and craft projects.
The available thicknesses range from 0.225mm to 0.9mm, ensuring that you can find the right size for your specific project. Whether you require fine wire for delicate applications or thicker wire for more robust uses, our SS430 magnetic stainless steel wire offers the versatility you need. For instance, the thinner options, such as 0.225mm and 0.355mm, are ideal for intricate crafting, jewellery making, and lightweight components. On the other hand, the thicker options like 0.7mm, 0.8mm, and 0.9mm provide the necessary strength for heavier-duty applications, including structural reinforcement and industrial use.
One of the standout features of SS430 grade wire is its remarkable resistance to oxidation and staining, making it suitable for use in environments exposed to moisture and humidity. This characteristic not only enhances the longevity of the wire but also ensures that it maintains its aesthetic appeal over time. Unlike other wire types that may corrode or weaken when subjected to harsh conditions, our magnetic stainless steel wire remains reliable, reducing the need for frequent replacements or maintenance.
The magnetic properties of SS430 grade stainless steel are particularly valuable in applications that require magnetism for functionality. This wire can be effectively utilised in magnetic connectors, sensors, and other electronic components where secure attachment is crucial. Its ability to respond to magnetic fields allows for innovative designs and practical applications that may not be possible with non-magnetic materials.
Proudly produced and shipped from Warrington, UK, our magnetic stainless steel wire is subjected to stringent quality controls to ensure that it meets the highest industry standards. Each spool is carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit, guaranteeing that you receive a product that is both reliable and consistent. Additionally, our knowledgeable team is always available to assist you with any queries or guidance on selecting the right wire for your specific needs.

How Do I Calculate The Ohms Of This Wire:
Calculating the resistance per metre (ohms/m) for magnetic stainless steel wire, specifically SS430 grade, involves understanding its resistivity and the wire’s dimensions. The resistance of a wire is determined by its material properties, length, and cross-sectional area. For nichrome wire, the resistivity is approximately 1.10 x 10^-6 ohm-meters, but for SS430, we typically use a different resistivity value, which is around 7.2 x 10^-7 ohm-meters.
To calculate the resistance per metre, we can use the formula:
R=ρ⋅LAR = \frac{\rho \cdot L}{A}
Where:
- RR is the resistance (in ohms),
- ρ\rho is the resistivity of the material (in ohm-meters),
- LL is the length of the wire (in meters),
- AA is the cross-sectional area of the wire (in square meters).
Since we are looking for resistance per metre, we set L=1L = 1 metre, simplifying the formula to:
R=ρAR = \frac{\rho}{A}
The cross-sectional area AA for a round wire can be calculated using the diameter:
A=π(d2)2A = \pi \left(\frac{d}{2}\right)^2
Where:
- dd is the diameter of the wire.
Calculating Resistance for Each Gauge
Now, let’s calculate the resistance per metre for each thickness of the SS430 wire in our range.
0.225mm:
-
- Diameter d=0.225d = 0.225 mm = 0.000225 m.

- Resistance R≈7.2×10−73.98×10−8≈18.1R \approx \frac{7.2 \times 10^{-7}}{3.98 \times 10^{-8}} \approx 18.1 ohms/m.
