How Do I Calculate The Ohms Of This Wire:
Calculating the resistance per metre (ohms/m) for magnetic stainless steel wire, specifically SS430 grade, involves understanding its resistivity and the wire’s dimensions. The resistance of a wire is determined by its material properties, length, and crosssectional area. For nichrome wire, the resistivity is approximately 1.10 x 10^6 ohmmeters, but for SS430, we typically use a different resistivity value, which is around 7.2 x 10^7 ohmmeters.
To calculate the resistance per metre, we can use the formula:
$R=Aρ⋅L$
Where:
 $R$ is the resistance (in ohms),
 $ρ$ is the resistivity of the material (in ohmmeters),
 $L$ is the length of the wire (in meters),
 $A$ is the crosssectional area of the wire (in square meters).
Since we are looking for resistance per metre, we set $L=1$ metre, simplifying the formula to:
$R=Aρ$
The crosssectional area $A$ for a round wire can be calculated using the diameter:
$A=π(2d)_{2}$
Where:
